Next week is Cloud Connect in Santa Clara and Cisco's Cloud Software group will have a big presence. While we have plenty to talk about on how Cisco is helping customers build their cloud, we also want to listen to our customers plans and needs. We are bringing some of our engineers and architects so you can engage directly with them. There are three things you can see next week.

Of course, we will also be showcasing our award winning cloud automation software, Cisco Intelligent Automation for Cloud (CIAC) (formerly newScale and Tidal), which provides the self-service catalog and orchestration to our private cloud
Openstack and Cisco Cloud Software
The big news, for me is that we will be demonstrating, live for the first time our cloud management software working with the Diablo release of OpenStack Nova running on UCS. Diagrams will be on hand. Here are some highlights of how this is built:
- The Cisco Cloud Portal is used for a professional, extensible portal with strong role-based access control. This enables a service provider or enterprise to deliver just the right amount of visibility to a user.
- A service catalog displays a variety of services, not just VM's the order manager enables that shopping experience and the policy manager makes sure the proper rules are set and consumption governance is enforced. These are must have functions for OpenStack to work in an enterprise environment.
- The Cisco Process Orchestrator provides all the back end automation that talks to the Openstack API's using the EC2 api and Eucatools to provision Openstack instances. Interestingly, we used a set of workflows developed for our own private cloud, so rather than add, we had to remove functionality such as updating the CMDB, integrating with Microsoft Active Directory and various other internal systems.
- Finally, you can see the lifecycle manager which keeps track of the subscriptions to all the different kinds of resources being consumed. What's cool, and make sure you get a demo, is that a) any cloud resource can be tracked, and b) made visible in the portal through its own portlet.
Big Data Hadoop on Cisco We will be also be talking up Cisco for Hadoop and Big Data solutions. We have a great story on our hardware, and this is now getting extended to our software stack as well. Cisco is already a leader in workload automation for business process management. We'll be talking about how we are extending this capability to the next generation analytics.
